The Town of North Andover is located in Essex County, approximately 24 miles north of Boston and 243 miles north of New York City. The town lies along the banks of the Merrimack River and is surrounded by the communities of Methuen, MA, Haverhill, MA, Boxford, MA, Andover, MA, Middleton, MA, North Reading, MA and Lawrence, MA. North Andover is governed by an open Town Meeting form of government, a five-member Board of Selectmen and a Town Manager pursuant to a Home Rule Charter that went into effect in 1986.

Although North Andover contains several industrial parks, the town has retained a rural character and contains more than 3,000 acres of preserved open space. North Andover is served by Interstate 495, Route 125, Route 133 and Route 144. Lawrence Municipal Airport is also located within the town. Logan International Airport in Boston is less than a 45-minute drive, and Manchester Airport in Manchester, NH is approximately a 35-minute drive.
